Endurance testing of robotic castor wheels and metal floor plates through the control of FESTO automation hardware.
Iteration 2
Spring 2025

Aluminum extrusion frame supports a FESTO linear belt and servo which moves a FESTO linear piston which pushes a standard castor wheel to be worn against varied floor surfaces.
>200,000 cycles performed over multiple stages of testing. Each stage progressed in applied stress as I learned how to drive the linear actuators faster without risking safety.

Progressive castor failure was observed, measured, documented, and pushed to a controlled collapse.
Iteration 1
Spring 2025
Perfomed initial shakedown of test stand performance under extended loading, recommended moving to second phase of testing on customer hardware.
Documented and analyed a mechanical fastener failure caused by the large piston forces. Produced engineering drawings for mitigation hardware and installed in a rapid timeframe.
Took over the project in the middle of assembly, produced all documentation on normal and recovery operations.
